The reason I titled the series Pick at Random lies in my core creative intention: to engage in cross-cultural practice within a multicultural context. Whether in terms of technique, expressive form, thematic elements, or conceptual meaning, the work can be Eastern or non-Eastern; contemporary or traditional; popular or vernacular; borrowed or original. The key lies in how the viewer—as the subject of aesthetic perception—understands and interprets these elements. In my view, there is no need for one cultural model to obscure another, or for one form to replace another. The blending of multiple cultures may appear contradictory on the surface, yet from within, it becomes a dialectical expression. Rather than leading to the loss or confusion of cultural meaning, such expression opens up new possibilities for interpretation and articulation.
